Research Update on HIV Chronic Inflammation

Kristine Erlandson MD
University of Colorado

We now have very effective medications to treat HIV with few side effects, so most young university researchers/investigators in the field of HIV are more interested in studying the chronic inflammation caused by ongoing HIV infection: health issues and possible treatments. Come get a great update from our friend and “researcher-extraordinaire” from UC. Kristine will present what research has been done & what we have learned; what hasn’t been done; what research is ongoing; and what research do we want to do next.

“Aging with HIV ... and Understanding Common Age Related Health Conditions”
Kathleen Harris, Pharm D., Medical Science Liaison, ViiV Healthcare

Even when undetectable, the immune system is constantly mounting a response to HIV infection, causing continuous chronic inflammation.
